I decided that I’m going to try to start keeping 2 copies of my blog posts: English and Spanish. I will see how this experiment goes and I’m doing it for a few reasons:
- Spanish is my first language but my “geek-Spanish” is not that great, mostly because everything I do in technology is in English. Having technical conversations in Spanish is a bit challenging for me and I’d like to get better at it, so I figured this is a good way to go
- Although I see some traffic to my blog from Spanish-speaking countries, most of it comes from English-speaking countries and I’d like to be able to reach people that prefer to read things in Spanish when available
- It could be fun
- It will be challenging
Sure, translation services will render any page out there in your language of choice, so why am I bothering with this? Well, translation results are not always accurate, especially when you bring in tech terminology. I will probably start with a Bing translation and modify it as needed. I know I will make some mistakes along the way, but hopefully I write things that are half-way coherent. For now it’s an experiment, if it seems to go well after a while, I’ll continue. I will keep the blog posts separate. If you want to start reading some my posts in Spanish, you can go here: http://www.almguide.com/category/es/
